CoDA Workshop at HiF

Our workshop on Compositional Data Analysis (CoDA) took place at the HiF in person and with a large online attendance. For 3.5 day our specialists, laid down theory, practice and participants were able to bring their own datasets to apply!

Geochemists face the challenge that most of their data are multi-variate and consist of relative data, e.g. concentration data of elements. The framework of Compositional Data Analysis (CoDA) acknowledges the limitations of presenting and modelling with data which are percentages or proportions. The workshop, tailored for geochemists, will focus on practical applications to improve and facilitate handling of constraints data such like element concentrations.

📆 The agenda spanned three and a half days, starting with computer setup and theoretical background on Monday afternoon. Tuesday we covered data-exploration tools and interpretation principles, while Wednesday emphasized hands-on data analysis. Thursday focused on testing hypotheses and modeling. Participants are encouraged to bring their own datasets for the last two days.
