One of our dissemination goals was to promote a session at EGU GA dedicated to the research topics covered by our project. This is a mean to bring together researchers working in these areas and foster fruitful knowledge exchanges. The session called “Innovative Approaches in Mineral Exploration: From Ore Forming Processes to New Exploration methods” was co-organized by ERE and GMPV5 and had the prestigious co-sponsorship of SGA. The convening was carried by Ana Jesus (Instituto Dom Luiz, Universidade de Lisboa), Matthew Jackson (Imperial College London) and chaired by Shenghong Yang (University Oulu), coordinator of project SEMACRET. We received 33 abstracts that were presented in 24 oral presentations and 9 posters generating very lively discussions with networking continuing throughout a very full day!

In addition to this session, SEMACRET was featured in another session devoted to European projects convened by Jari Joutsenvaara, Shenghong Yang and Eija-Riitta Niinikoskifrom from Oulu University. The session entitled “Collaborative Actions Across the European Raw Material Value Chain” gathered oral communications portraying the goals, methodologies and main accomplishments of 9 Horizon Europe projects in different stages of implementation. In the end, all presenters were called back to participate in a debate discussing the challenges experienced by their projects, including the difficulties in addressing local populations regarding the topics of critical raw materials and mineral exploration.
