Masaryk University Brno SEG Student Chapter Field Trip to the Ransko massif

On the April 4th the short one-day field trip was organized by the Masaryk University Brno SEG Student Chapter. The 15 attendants of the field trip are current and former students members of the SEG chapter. The field trip was focused on various types of sulphide (?) mineralization in the Vysočina (Highland) region of the Czech Republic. One of the stops was the geologically unique sulphide magmatic deposits at Staré Ransko ore district, that is also one of the SEMACRET reference sites. SEMACRET project member Vojtěch Wertich (ČGS) and exploration geologist Karel Malý (Aurum Global Exploration) explained geological context and guided participants to abandoned mines of the district were students have the opportunity to observe and collect two distinct types of mineralization such as: 1) Dissemination and semi-massive Cu-Ni-(±Co, PGE) ore in ultramafic rocks of the Jezírka deposit and 2) Semi-massive Cu-Zn ore (possibly hydrothermally overprinted VMS) of the Obrázek deposit.
